- Winter 2025-26 Big as Texas eBird Counties notesThis quarter’s update features a Slaty-backed Gull in Galveston, a rare 1884 Eskimo Curlew record in Wise County, and 106 new county ticks. Check the latest spreadsheet for “way out of range” sightings and the remaining species needed for single-county completion.
This spreadsheet lists species from eBird county checklists. Each species row includes a map link comparing eBird documentation to the “TOS Handbook of Texas Birds 2nd Edition” maps.
• Birds in Red: Species “out of range” of the Handbook maps. Review species in Red were documented after the Handbook’s publication.
• Brown Shading Empty cells with brown shading represent species not yet seen in the county that should be within range according to the Handbook.
The second tab, “Sp needed 4 Co’s”, lists species needed in four or fewer counties along with the specific counties remaining.
